The content below is a showcase of all my work for Creative Industries 1, starting from our very first activity for my midterms to the last activity for my finals. Some of these artworks are elements of art I have never tried before or have done in depth, and through engaging in creating those art forms I have cultivated a new sense of knowledge and appreciation for artists and expression as a whole.

I drew a subject (Dog, Iffel Tower, Favorite food) with my eyes closed for around one minute, then we drew all the subjects again with our eyes closed for 3 minutes
This artwork is just a short activity for us as a class to get to know each other and to see what others would visualize and how they would draw when given a prompt and faced with a challenge.

The scene portrayed is a sort of fond memory that holds some semblance for me. What I drew is a view of a billiards room. For me, billiards has been a very fun table sport that I only recently learned from my sister, and now it's been a way for me to bond with my family and friends.

Though there is no "significant meaning" to this piece, I can reflect on the fact that in my art style my proportions are off in some ways, especially when it comes to the difference between front-facing angles and side profiles. I struggle to keep my consistency there when it comes to my art style in proportions, which is why I appreciate the lesson and new technique that I learned.

This is a scene of an exiled knight that was now a wanderer and a prince that ran away from his kingdom meeting and conspiring to return and rule. As for the color theory, I picked these relatively bland and cool colors to, of course, indicate the weather/climate in the environment, creating a slightly eerie but peaceful atmosphere with nothing but trees surrounding them. For their clothes I deliberately made them parallel and contrasting to each other because that's how I find their personalities and dynamic to be.

The building illustrated is that of the Canterbury Cathedral in England, one of the oldest Christian structures in England, the heritage site holding hundreds of stories told and untold. It is also a good example of Gothic architecture, as it showcases the main elements of it, with its symmetric shape, angular and sharp patterns, and intricate statues within the pillars. But while most visitors find the structure calming, to me, it is supposed to be imposing and threatening, not just a display of grandeur with the skills of the artists and architects but a display of the power of the church.

I used crumpled newspaper as my base and continued adding modeling clay, detailed it with my tools by removing chunks and smoothening it out with my fingers. After I was finished I covered it with an acrylic gloss for protection from dirt.
This sculpture of José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, titled "Sino Ka Ba Pepe," with Pepe referring to Jose Rizal's nickname. My work is a direct reference to Radioactive Sago Project's song with the same title. The song satirizes how our national hero is seemingly clouded by falsehood and glorification; his opinions about the revolution and intent in his writing are all debated. We Filipinos are not aware of the real truth behind it, and in that way of knowing him, our judgement is changed akin to exaltation. My statue reflects on this, leaving parts of the statue unfinished and exposed, and at the top of his head is a one-peso coin that has his face, the same coin that is losing value, a reflection of the fact that despite how his values has affected us Filipinos our government still fails us.

Crocodiles have been a symbol for corruption in the Philippines for decades, due to their depicted greed and selfishness in folk tales. In this piece the crocodile is being punctured by a flagpole that carries the Philippine flag, a representation of the Filipinos' desperation for justice that has still not been served against the cancer in our society. and in its surroundings, the blue being the water flooding our livelihoods and newspaper cutouts that bring light to the situation happening in our country, the purpose of my art is to be an eye-opener.

This is a self-portrait in the style of cubism, with me depicted with goat horns, because I often associate myself with goats, or specifically black ones, due to how I don't fit in, in a way that is natural for me or is natural for how others experience belonging. Yet, I drew myself being a bit silly and whimsical, because that’s just how I am when I am being true to myself.

The portrait of a nude figure with animalistic features is Kimiya, ‘The Enlightened.’ Kimiya refers to the Arabic word for alchemy, a form of archaic and occult science that is based on the transformation of matter, either to change, create, or combine elements. My choice for Kimiya's design shows elements of alchemy through the various animal features on its body (e.g., the horn, feathers, wings, bird claws and leopard legs combined into one humanoid being.)
